Primarily letters (1914-1932) of lawyer and public prosecutor G. Aaron Youngquist to his wife, Scharlie, with other letters (mostly to Scharlie) from friends and relatives. Also includes a photocopy of G. Aaron Youngquist's autobiography (1959), speeches (1929-1938), military service papers (1918), and photocopies of several items from scrapbooks related to family matters and to Youngquist's career, including his tenure as Minnesota attorney general (1928-1929) and assistant U.S. attorney general for prohibition and tax law (1929-1933). Finally, there are photocopies (made in 1986) of Westlaw (legal database) citations to cases argued by Youngquist before the U.S. Supreme Court.

These cases had their genesis in a bill of complaint filed with the United States Supreme Court by the state of Wisconsin in 1922, seeking an injunction to restrain the state of Illinois and the Sanitary District of Chicago from diverting water from Lake Michigan through the Chicago River into the Des Plaines River and ultimately the Mississippi.
